Q. How can I find out about job opportunities with the City of Cottonwood Shores?

Job vacancies are posted on the website under Employment Information – Job Openings

The Human Resources Department, located at City Hall, at 3808 Cottonwood Drive. Job listings are generally updated on a weekly basis.

Q: What jobs can I apply for?

Applications are accepted only for positions that are currently open and may be submitted until 5:00 p.m. on the closing date. Most positions have specified minimum qualifications. The minimum age requirement for regular full-time positions is 18; for part-time and/or seasonal employment, the minimum age is 16.

Q: Can I apply for more than one job?

Yes, you may apply for as many open jobs as you wish, but a separate application or résumé must be submitted for each. Also, the job for which you are applying should be indicated on each.

Q. Where do I get an application?

1) From the Human Resources Department or the Front Desk, located at City Hall, 3808 Cottonwood Drive.

 2) From our website. You may apply download a copy of an employment application from the Employment page.

Q. How do I submit my application?

Your completed application may be submitted email (see contact procedures form), delivered or mailed to the Human Resources Department, or faxed to (830)693-6436. Please be sure to indicate the position for which you are applying. If you are applying for more than one position, submit a separate application for each.

Q: Should I attach anything to my application?

If you have a résumé, you may submit it with an application that is emailed, faxed, mailed or delivered, but any other materials should be kept for an interview, unless otherwise noted in the job announcement.

Q: Can I withdraw or change the desired position on my application after I have submitted it to Human Resources?

Yes. If you wish to have your application withdrawn or considered for a different position, contact Human Resources at (830) 693-3830 and request the city administrator.

Q: How long is my application for employment kept on file?

A new application must be completed for each position you wish to be considered for.

Q: How long can I expect to wait to be contacted after submitting an application?

The selection process takes a minimum of two weeks from the final closing date. Some hiring supervisors take several weeks to select applicants for interviews

Q: How will I find out if my application has been selected or if the position has been filled?

Those selected for interviews will be contacted by Human Resources or the hiring supervisor. Applicants who are interviewed but not selected will be notified by mail, email or telephone when the position is filled.

Q: Will I have to complete any testing for positions with the City of Cottonwood Shores?

The City of Cottonwood Shores does pre-employment drug testing for all positions.

Skills testing may be administered for certain positions. Applicants selected for testing will be contacted by Human Resources or the hiring supervisor regarding dates and times.

Police Officer positions fall under additional state requirements, so applicants must contact the police chief regarding the requirements. Contact Police at (830) 693-1410 during regular business hours.
